Blankenship Banks
Biggest Win of Career in Bad Boy 98 at Batesville While Race Fan
Jesse Love Wins a New Kia Soul

LOCUST GROVE, AR (May 18, 2013) - In
the support classes for the Badboy 98, it was the 3 truck of Jackson
Herrington taking the win in the Super Stars feature, and the 66 of
Kevin Grizzle winning the Street Stock Feature. John Blankenship
took home the biggest win of his racing career tonight at Batesville
Motor Speedway. Blankenship won $20,000 by winning the Second Annual
Bad Boy 98 sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, and
marked the first series win for him this year and Jesse Love was the
lucky fan this year that won a brand new Kia Soul from Mark Marten
Kia of Batesville. Blankenship pulled away at the end to score a
convincing win over Brady Smith, Steve Francis, Billy Moyer and
Jimmy Owens.
While Blankenship enjoyed the fruits of the win, Dennis Erb Jr. was
left with what could have been. Erb led the first 67 laps of the
race until smoke bellowed from his number 28 car forcing him pit
side. Erb and Blankenship had put on a side-by-side battle for the
top spot for most of the race until that point. Blankenship then ran
away with the race as he went unchallenged over the last 30 laps of
the event.
"I have to thank all of my crew, Tom Buckingham and everyone else,
this is the biggest win we have ever had," exclaimed Blankenship in
Lucas Oil Victory Lane. "That was quite a race for the lead between
Dennis and me, and then I saw smoke out of his car and I knew he was
in trouble. This Rocket Chassis car has been good all year long, we
have been knocking on the door for a big win like this since last
year, and tonight it finally happened."
"The track was really racy tonight," said the winner afterwards.
Blankenship started sixth in the stout field, but first had to
withstand a solid challenge from Wendell Wallace early in the race.
"Wendell was really good there early on until he had that flat; once
he went out, we were able to stay close to Dennis with the caution
flags. I have to thank all of my sponsors of course, Coal, Todd Case
Trucking, Bear Cove Village, VP Fuels, Integra Shocks, and Cornett
Engines."
Smith, who won last week at LaSalle Speedway, came from seventh as
he fought his way to a second finish. "Congrats to John on the win,
he was gone there at the end! I couldn't see him on the track
anymore! Our car was tight early on, but as the race wore on, we got
a whole lot better. Hey, this has been a solid two weeks for us. A
win and a second place, we'll take it, as we head to the Show-Me 100
next weekend."
Francis, last Augusts' winner of Batesville's biggest race, the COMP
Cams Topless 100, had a solid finish in third as he held off Billy
Moyer and Owens. Owens retook the championship points lead from Don
O'Neal, who finished eighth.
Completing the top ten were Scott Bloomquist, Earl Pearson Jr.,
O'Neal, Eric Jacobsen, and Jack Sullivan.
In preliminary action, Earl Pearson Jr. set the overall time (Group
A) amongst the 40 entrants, with a lap of 13.679 seconds. Bobby
Pierce set the fastest time in Group B with a time of 13.738
seconds. Earl Pearson Jr., Steve Francis, Dennis Erb Jr., and
Wendell Wallace won their respective heat races. Jimmy Owens and
Billy Moyer Jr. won their respective B-Mains.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be back in action next
weekend at the "Diamond of the Dirt Tracks", Lucas Oil Speedway in
Wheatland, MO with the 21st Annual Lucas Oil "Show-Me 100" presented
by Protect the Harvest. Events will get underway on Thursday, May
23rd with a complete show for the Lucas Oil MLRA late models. The
LOLMDS will take to the track on Friday, May24th and Saturday, May
25th. For more information on the "Show-Me 100" or Lucas Oil

Brandon Smith
makes it 2 out of 3 with his win in the final night of the
Mid America Modified
Championship
BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 16) –
Brandon Smith added a bookend trophy to his collection in Saturday’s
Mid-America Modified Championship.
Better yet, he added a second $1,500
check to his earnings from over the course of the three-day IMCA
Xtreme Motor Sports Modified special at Batesville Mo tor
Speedway
“After Thursday, as good as we were, I thought we might have a
chance to win again,” said Smith, who enjoyed a long run at the
front before finishing second to Jeff Taylor on Friday. “But these
guys are tough to beat, especially Jeff. You never know how these
races are going to play out.”
Wayne Brooks was third, Jason Wilkey
fourth and Ronnie Jeffrey fifth in the finale.
As had been the case on opening night, Smith drew the outside row
one start, with Taylor on the pole.
They’d swap the front spot early on,
then run side-by-side or bumper-to-bumper for more than 15 circuits.
Smith denied Taylor’s lower line bid while the two ran in lapped
traffic, before the only caution of the night came out with eight to
go.
Sticking with his preferred higher
line, Smith pulled away on the ensuing restart and took the win well
ahead of Taylor, who had his hands full holding off Brooks for
second.
Smith had become eligible for the
2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot with his Thursday
night victory.
Feature results – 1. Brandon Smith;
2. Jeff Taylor; 3. Wayne Brooks; 4. Jason Wilkey; 5. Ronnie Jeffrey;

Jeff Taylor
takes the win in night 2 of the Mid America Modified Championship
BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 15) – Jeff
Taylor won both IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modified features at
Batesville Motor Speedway’s Mid-America Modified Championship last
March.
He’s now half way toward matching that total at this year’s event.
After emerging with the second spot after a lengthy
side-by-side-by-side battle with Troy Cordes and Adam Maple Friday
night, Taylor passed long-time leader and opening night winner
Brandon Smith following a restart just before midway.
He led the rest of the way, holding off Smith to the $1,500
checkers. Taylor has now won four 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star
Invitational ballot qualifying events, most notably the IMCA
Speedway Motors Super Nationals.
Cordes prevailed in the tussle for third, on a track that stayed
fast all the way around and from top to bottom. Wayne Brooks and
Maple completed the top five.
The Mid-America Modified Championship concludes Saturday with
another $1,500 to win main event.
Feature results – 1. Jeff Taylor; 2. Brandon Smith; 3. Troy Cordes;
4. Wayne Brooks; 5. Adam Maple; 6. Jason Wilkey; 7. Jack Sullivan;

Mid America Modified Championship Night 1
goes to Brandon Smith
BATESVILLE, Ark. (March 14) – One of
the last cars through the pit gate was first across the finish line
on opening night of Batesville Motor Speedway’s Mid-America Modified
Championship.
Brandon Smith was the $1,500 IMCA
Xtreme Motor Sports Modified feature winner Thursday evening, taking
the checkers close to a straightaway ahead of runner-up Wayne
Brooks.
Smith started outside Jeff Taylor on
the front row, shot to the front at the flagstand and led all 30
laps.
He caught up with the back of the
field on the 10th circuit. Lapped traffic almost became a factor
with 10 to go as Smith had to avoid contact with a slower car
exiting the track.
“We didn’t run away from the field.
We had a very good car but it helped to restart up front,” said
Smith, an IMCA winner for the first time since the 2011 season.
Dallas Everett was third, Taylor
fourth and Jack Sullivan fifth. Taylor had won both Mid-America
Modified features held last year.
“I’ve raced with Jeff a lot of times
over the years. He always races you clean,” said Smith, a late
arrival to the track because of work. “He’s always a contender. I
know he’ll be back on Friday.”
The victory was the sanctioned career sixth for Smith, the newest
addition to the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
Features Friday and Saturday also
pay $1,500 to win.
Pit gates open at 3 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5:30 p.m. both
days. Hot laps are at 6:30 and racing starts at 7 p.m.
Grandstand admission is $10 for
adults and free for kids 11 and under when accompanying a paying
adult. Pit passes are $30 each night.
Feature results – 1. Brandon Smith;
2. Wayne Brooks; 3. Dallas Everett; 4. Jeff Taylor; 5. Jack
Sullivan; 6. Wendell Wallace; 7. Ronnie Jeffrey; 8. Jeremy Tharp; 9.

Ingles; 13. Kevin Goben; 14. Gavin Landers; 15. Adam Maple; 16.

17th Annual Schoenfeld Headers Street Stock Championship
Wayne Brooks takes home the win in the 17th Annual Schoenfeld
Headers Street Stock Championship race on Thursday night at the
Batesville Motor Speedway.
Tony
Anglin in the G1 started on the poll and it looked like he had the
race won, but after a number of cautions and restarts Tony never got
the opportunity to build a good lead on the remainder of the field.
Tony managed to hold second place with T.J. Herndon's 35 car
finishing 3rd and the KEG1 of Jeremy Russell finishing 4th.
Wayne Brooks Sets

Stocks made there way to the Batesville Motor Speedway Thursday
night for the 17th annual Schoenfeld Headers Street Stock

Brooks in the 3X. During the time trials there where a couple of
OH MY! moments .

and taking a wild ride, the other was with the 42 street stock,
doing almost a carbon copy of Woods turn 2 wall maneuver.

Friday night we will
have 6 big Qualifying Heat Races for the street stocks, and a
rain makeup race for the Marks Pharmacy $500 to win Front Wheel
Drive Shootout... Open Modifieds will also be taking to the track
